On May 31, 2013, we moved our three horses from Galloping Grove in Wisconsin, much closer to where we live, to a farm called North Hill in Spring Grove, IL. Now, instead of driving 50 minutes to see the horses, we drive 15 to 20. It’s wonderful and even better than that, Major, Princess and Belle are pasture boarded on about 30 acres of grass pasture. They are in heaven. No stalls, no mud, (okay a little mud), but no dirt paddock. Just miles of green stuff. Exercise and grazing. It’s a beautiful thing.
For the first week they are by themselves, but soon they will be in a herd of five horses that are already there. The first day they were pretty nervous and wanted to see the other horses, which they can only see from a corner of the pasture pictured. Today is the fourth day and they are completely content, though they’d like to meet the other horses and do go down to see them now and then.
